The Patmos Vision

9 ajI, John, your akbrother and alfellow partaker in the tribulation and amkingdom and
Or steadfastness
,
aoperseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos apbecause of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
10I was
Or in spirit
,
arin the Spirit on asthe Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice atlike the sound of a trumpet,
11saying, auWrite in a
Or scroll
book what you see, and send it to the awseven churches: to axEphesus and to aySmyrna and to azPergamum and to baThyatira and to bbSardis and to bcPhiladelphia and to bdLaodicea.”

12Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw beseven golden lampstands; 13and bfin the middle of the lampstands I saw one bglike
Or the Son of Man
a son of man, biclothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and bjgirded across His chest with a golden sash.
14His head and His bkhair were white like white wool, like snow; and blHis eyes were like a flame of fire. 15His bmfeet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His bnvoice was like the sound of many waters. 16In His right hand He held boseven stars, and out of His mouth came a bpsharp two-edged sword; and His bqface was like brthe sun
Lit shines
shining in its strength.

17When I saw Him, I btfell at His feet like a dead man. And He buplaced His right hand on me, saying, bvDo not be afraid; bwI am the first and the last, 18and the bxliving One; and I
Lit became
,
bzwas dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have cathe keys of death and of Hades.
19Therefore cbwrite ccthe things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place cdafter these things. 20“As for the cemystery of the cfseven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the cgseven golden lampstands: the chseven stars are the angels of cithe seven churches, and the seven cjlampstands are the seven churches.
